No meeting in August so we come back in September with a social catch up evening
Our January meeting is also our 15th Birthday. All members welcome and it will be a magical evening
We will have a talk from Piers Storie Pugh, an expert on Military History, who will talk about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Welcome back after the summer. We will have a social evening catching up with everyone’s news!
We will have Wine Expert Carolyn Bosworth-Davies to teach us how to taste wines and will recommend a selection of suitable summer wines.
We don’t meet in August
We will have a talk from Wendy Moore, a writer who has written a book about the suffragettes who set up an all female hospital set up in London during World War I
This will be our AGM. Time to elect a new committee and have a varied evening of chatter and trivia.
Get your dancing shoes on as Kay leads us in a Salsa Dancing session.
Aleida Moore Berry will talk to us about her career at the Bank of England
TBC We are hoping to have a speaker to talk about forensics and their use in solving crime.
We start the year with a talk from Hester van Hein from Tidylicious who will be telling us of the pleasures of keeping a tidy environment in your home
Our speaker for our return in September will be Suzi Warren, the creator of the Street Stitching project. Suzi has had to cancel previous planned meeting for reasons beyond her control so we revery much hoping she can join us this time
At our July meeting we will try our hand at African Drumming. Should be fun…if a bit noisy!
We are delighted to welcome Suzi warren, the founder of Street Stitching, who will show us that there is an alternative to fast fashion. Demonstrating repairing, mending and repurposing garments.
May is our AGM where we will elect the new Committee for the coming year. We are planning some fun activities for the evening.
In April we will have a presentation from Freya Prince from Kent County Council Conservation. She will tell us about the management of the habitats in country parks like Lullingstone
Our March meeting will be a return visit, this time in person, from Paulus the Cabaret Geek. He will be performing a selection from his ‘Victoria Wood and Me’ show accompanied by Mable his ukulele!
The February meeting will be on 14th February and we will be holding a craft session. Caroline will be showing us how to make Tea-Light holders from jamjars.
In January, Holocaust Memorial Day is held and we are honoured to have Janine Webber, a survivor of the holocaust, as our speaker for the evening. Janine has spent much of her life telling her story of survival and resilience to ensure that later generations do not forget.
It’s our Christmas Social and, together with a delicious Caribbean spread, we will have a performance from the College Park Players. Lot’s of time to chat and, of course, our traditional mega Christmas raffle!
Our speaker at the November meeting will be Kayleigh Vincent, Landlady of the Coach and Horses in Beckenham, who will give us the lowdown on what it’s like to run a pub and survive as a woman in the world of the Publican.
We will have a craft session at this month’s meeting. Stephanie and Shirley will show us how to make Brooches out of zips!
Our speak this month will be Caris Grant Hickey who is a local Bee Keeper and will tell us about the the Bee population and the life of the Hive
At our July meeting our speaker will be John Baker who will tel us about Dowsing and Divining, a skill he has practised for almost 30 years. Some of our members will be joining John to have a go themselves in Greenwich park, we look forward to hearing about their experiences.
Our May Meeting will be our AGM. Our Treasurer, Sue H, and our Secretary, Caroline, will present their reports for the previous year. We will also elect our Committee for the coming year. I am sure there will be time for some socialising too.
In April we are welcoming back our former member Sue Laughton who will present a lesson in Flower Arranging with Easter in mind. With Spring flowers in abundance this should be a lovely evening.
Our presenter for March will be Craig Major, a busy builder, who will talk about how to go about DIY projects around the home and answer all those questions you have wanted to ask about home maintenance but never had a ‘captive’ expert to ask.
Our next meeting will give us the opportunity to try Chair Yoga. We will learn the importance of correct breathing, active and static stretching followed by guided relaxation and meditation. All of which sounds perfect for a mid winter Tuesday.
We are starting the year with a presentation from Richard Griffiths who spent his working life as a Protection Officer to the Royal Family
