Who are we?
Catford WI is a diverse group of women that prides itself on being welcoming and inclusive. Started in 2010, we are part of the London District of the West Kent Federation of WIs (www.thewi.org.uk/westkent). For details of selected Federations events and workshops, click here.
When do we meet?
We meet monthly, except in August, at Catford Cricket and Sports Club in Penerley Road. We also meet informally once a month for a social evening of darts, crafts, games and chat.
What do we do at meetings?
Meetings include a mixture of talks, activities, crafts and food-related evenings. Past meetings have included craft sessions like mosaics, glass fusion, making cards, ceramic painting, flower arranging and cake decorating. We’ve learnt belly dancing , self defence and how to play whist, met birds of prey and tasted chocolate and cheese. We have also welcomed an array of interesting and entertaining speakers. Some evenings are general social nights where we bring food and drink and have time to get to know each other better.
What else do we do?
As well as our meetings, we also have a walking group (both country and city walks), two darts teams, a book club, a craft group, cocktail and supper clubs, a theatre group (going to, not acting in!) and we arrange outings that are often open to family and friends These interest groups and activities are initiated by our members, so anyone with an idea can start one.
Can I join?
Our membership is limited to 80 due to the size of the hall where we meet. However we do run a waiting list – please contact us for more details. This means we are only able to welcome visitors if they are pre-booked (please be aware a small guest payment will be charged).
